with an adaptor or something, using a mixer kind of takes out
the portabillity..
So i guess what i'm asking are there Ipods that can be hooked
up directly to the amp. |

Don't know about the MB connections, but that ST/ST adapter will or won't work depending of the circuitry.
1 It will work in a dedicated stereo in.
2 It most probably will work in a dedicated mono in/FX return.
3 It most probably won't work in a swtching jack and can actually fry the other channel in the mp3 player if a certain kind of RS switching is used.
I still think that the mini-mixer is the way to go, or a stereo mini-plug to RCAs adapter with mono RCA/6,3mm phono plug in the desired channel. Also possibly required would be a shield or a cap of a some sort to prevent the unused RCA male from shorting.
Just my 0.02€

i would think that maybe using an EQ pedal may
serve the same purpose,Ipod>EQ>Amp>Return,
is this a possibility? |

If so, the problem you have is that you want to mix a stereo input (ipod) and a mono input (bass) of different levels into a mono input (amp). |

Adjust volume very low on the iPod and do the amplification in the amp to avoid distortion. Just get the right connectors on the cable you use from adapter to amp input.
I do this all the time with a boom box...headphone jack Out at low volume to treble input In on my old blackface Bassman. In my case I use a Y-cable to combine the channels into mono, but that's because I had all the cables in my stash o'stuff.
Rocket surgery it ain't....and the adapters will cost you about $4. |
