At which point would you consider an artist successful?
Record deal?
Selling out arenas worldwide?
Making enough money to feed a small nation?
or
Having a loyal audience?
Having fun?
Making enough to buy more gear? |

I haven't reached my pinnacle of success yet, I am sure of that. When we can successfully headline an entire US Tour, at venues 500+, than I will consider myself successful enough to die happy.

Medium range- lasting on a DYI tour for a few months.

Well, it has to be released by some obscure record label that nobody has heard of. My name is already on one former band's very-pro-looking self-released demo, which I give my success a B+ for.

Of course, there is a huge amount of difference between the most and least successful. |

-- I'm on over half a dozen recordings, with more in the pipe
-- I've played and recorded with a few of my musical heroes
Michael Hurley
Rufus Thomas
Doug James
Danny Poullard
Mark Sandman
-- I've appeared in a movie
-- I'm still out gigging 2-4 nights every week
So looking back I've been more successful than I probably deserve |

| | | | Those are some good answers.
Success for me would be for my music to make an impression on someone the way musicians that I look up to have made impressions on me.
Gas money is nice too. |
