Make your guitar "squeel"? The easiest example of what I am talking about is in Coheed and Cambria's Welcome home. I'm not really a fan of them, but its the only example i can think of right now for that squeel sound from a guitar. Jeff beck also does this. I can't think of any songs that he does it in though.

Squeal? Check out some Pantera songs/solos. Dimebag Darrell Abbot was a master of the guitar-squeal. Another guy to check out is Zakk Wylde, from Black Label Society.

They both achieve squeals by using Pinch Harmonics, and Dime also pulled up on his Floyd Rose system to get it.

Look up "Pinch Harmonics". I think that's what you're looking for.

Yup, pinch harmonics. Just turn up the gain, and they should be pretty easy to do.

Messing with your EQ really won't help you get a better pinch harmonics.

Zakk Wylde does tons of them, and I think what helps him is that he has a little bit of chorus on his sound.

Also, the more accurate you are with your harmonics, the clearer the tone will be.

+1

You really only want to be messing with the two octave harmonic. On a strat it falls just in front of the neck pickup, and moves up the string as you fret higher. On my guitar the second fret harmonic is just behind the neck pickup, the fifth fret falls nearer the middle one, and the ninth fret harmonic is right over the middle pickup. Once you learn where the two octave harmonic falls for each fret it's pretty easy to play them when you like.
