How do you define tone?

All too often I see words like "tubey-goodness", "warm", "dark", "bright", "growly", and so on. I admit to not being particularly strong in my use and understanding of these words, but it's apparent to me I'm not the only one.

How do you define these words? Are there other words you feel are great at "defining" tone?

Tubey goodness is generally a smooth, somewhat treble subdued tone, to me. Warm has a lot of low mids, and generally is even more treble subdued. Dark is even farther... Bright is lots of treble clarity, maybe not so much bass as well. Can even have a lot of higher harmonics giving it a "tinny? feel... Growly generally has more mids, and almost sounds like very very slight overdrive without the high harmonic effect of actual distortion.

But these are all my opinion.

You left out "farty," which is pretty much self-explanatory.
