Check their feedback. Over 20 transactions, 100% positive, don't sweat it. Zero feedback, 4 total posts on TB, nah.

Set up the deal. Ship. Receive. Thats how I did it. And I had 0% feedback at the time. I didnt really sign up for the classifieds, I paid my $20 to get a cool avatar.

We traded items that were similar in value. Each paid to ship their own item. We tried to ship on the same day, but I believe the other person shipped the day after. Got our items around the same time, no problems, no regrets. (AFAIK)

Maybe I am too trusting of a soul or naive but I really believe that 99.99999% of TBers are honest. I would have no problem just doing the trade. Follow Munjibunga's guidelines and you will be fine. Although if the guy was fairly active on TB and only had 5 - 10 Feedbacks I would probably still do the deal.

Like I said......maybe I am too trusting.

I've done 4 or 5 transactions on TB, some one-way (with money flowing the other way), some even-up trades. I find it easier/nicer/better to PM each other your phone numbers and talk out the details beforehand. Also, you get to talk to some really interesting fellow bass players this way!

Hi.

I've only done one transaction, and I judged the seller by his posts and by his e-mails.

We both took a bit of a chance, but it paid off.

I've done more than a few sales and trades on here. I was initially worried about doing trades because of some less than honest people over on craigslist. (took me getting all the way over to where they were to see that what they wanted to trade wasn't what they said it was, and instead got a lesser offer on the item to "save me the trouble of driving it back" ) Honestly though, I'd say that people are very trustworthy on TalkBass. As long as they are people with a good reputation in the forums, have a feedback rating in good standing, and didn't join yesterday, I have no problem doing trades. Although, there are many different recourse actions you could take if something did go sour. Including the moderators, and other means if it came down to it. Perhaps I'm lucky, but I have not had any problems buying, selling, or trading things on here.

Seriously, by and large TalkBassers are some of the most honest people on the internet.
