How do you get your music pressed to vinyl?

I would love to make like 8 copies of my Drrskt album onto vinyl if I could. I would just love to have big vinyl sized artwork, and to have my music be on vinyl, ha.

How much would it cost? Probably a lot. Anyone know who does this kind of stuff. I know a lot of punk bands have their stuff pressed to vinyl for 7"s.

My band looked into last year- it was too much. The duplication was inexpensive, but paying for the actual pressing plates (one for each side) made them more expensive than compact discs. We didn't really think we'd be able to sell enough records to recoup.

If you run "vinyl pressing" on a search engine, you'll get a bunch of hits. Here's one:

Thanks. The way I look at it, I'm not going to produce as many albums as a band... I'd just press 8 albums or so. Still expensive, but it would be sweet.

There are places that will do short runs in all sizes/speeds. It ends up costing anywhere from 75-100 bucks each. I think they frame it and all that too if you want. Our singer has done it a couple of time- I'll ask him and get back to you. I'm thinking this was more of a collector's thing, but I'll see.

What I was trying to say is that the bulk of the cost is in the plate and setup fees, not in the actual records. The plate and setup fees will be the same for 10 copies as they will be for 1000.

How exactly do you get sound on to a record? I've always wondered, I get the basic concept, but what exactly is going on there?

Dizamn, I'd better get a 1000 copies though.

I can always dream I guess.
