Haha depends what I'm playing - if it's something like Rush I don't go too crazy... it takes concentration to get right!

Or if I'm playing Metallica (only the old stuff, mind you ) or Megadeth, the ONLY way to play that stuff is to totally rock out!

I shoulda voted "On the bed - passionate" because that is my true preference

Yep. Applies to both halves of the double entendre, too.

When I first started playing for church, I sat. Usually behind the piano, . . . . . . . . . . so I could be more hidden. Eventually the other band members coerced me to stand. Uncomfortable being up for everyone to see. . . . . . . but I continued and now [in the present], I prefer standing over sitting, though I'll sometimes sit during the alter service. So, I guess I'm . . . . . . . . kinda both.

First time I played in front of my church was the second week I played bass. All I had worked on with the ppls I was playin with was 'Jesus Be Glorified' a nd a song my friend wrote (both Praise) so when we got to worship, I kinda had to just try my best to follow one of my friends who was on the electric because I could not read open chords yet...I thought itw as a total failure but at least I turned myself down at that part so nobody would realize the glaring mistakes (distractions suck)

My church is so small, and they knew i was just learning so they didn't(and still don't ) expect much, that kinda helps being in front of them.

Oh, this thread is actually about bass playing?

Okay then, I prefer playing while standing. Even if I do sit down, I'll leave the bass hanging between my legs, so it's at the same height as if I was standing.

When playing a gig - I always stand.

Practicing - I sit down.

In both positions I keep the bass at roughly the same height.
