Looking around TB I see a lot of AMAZING GEAR and I'm just curious how you pay for it.
Show me the way!!
EDIT: "Afford GAS" was a little different way of asking how do you "Pay for GAS". Pay for is more appropriate.
EDIT#2
Please everyone check this out on The Secret History of the Credit Card http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...s/credit/view/
I was disgusted after watching this sham
VERY imformative piece, IMHO.

In the last couple of months I've bought:
G&L L2000
SX Fretless
Sansamp BDDI
GK 1001RB II
Ampeg 810E
The 2 cheapest items (the SX & the Sansamp) were the only ones I bought new.
Also, it's been about 10 years since my last big purchase so I figured I was due.
Save up & shop around to get good 2nd hand deals.
If you re-sell something that you bought used, you won't lose nearly as much as if you sell something you bought new.

But right now "used" is even out of reach. And when I am able to save enough cash for a G.A.S. binge (like after my kids graduate college ), I might feel that I have to have NEW to feel satiated.
In any event, thanks for the advice.

I pay for my gear with gig money. It's my mad money for my toys.

Even when some musicians use store credit cards (or other interest carrying credit cards) for GAS and pay them off before the interest kicks in, the credit industry holds that against us
check out the THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE CREDIT CARD http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...s/credit/view/
FWIW, I posted this link in another thread and it kinda sparked my question in this poll/thread as to how people pay for their gear. We need to be realistic with our buying habits. I feel like a sucker with a credit card.

Money that comes in from gear sales goes in there, money that I make doing something musical goes there, or anything besides my regular job goes in there. This is all I'll spend on gear.

As stated before, those damned credit cards are sooooo tempting to use to get what you want now, but "the man" has us by the short hairs paying it back EVEN when we pay it back before the interest kicks in (the exception AmEx = yearly flat fee).
Please keep posting how you pay for your GAS - it's very enlightening
Thanks,
Gj
