How do you play Psycho Killer?

For those who have listened to the song Psycho Killer and watched the Stop Making Sense DVD version of it, how do you play the song? I know it's pretty much Am and G chords, but in the video (can be found on youtube), David plays the Am near the 12th fret and sometimes the 5th fret, any idea what he's pressing?

All I see is a barre Am at the 5th fret and a barre 3rd fret G. I don't see him doing anything besides that.

first finger bars the 5th fret, ring finger on the A string E, pinky on the D string A.

Also, in the beginning of the video, (the one I posted), he does something that involves the 12th fret (just before the funky rhythm starts), any idea what that is?
