how does geddy do it?

it dont seem to matter what he plays a ric or a fender he always has that same tone. how does he get it? is it strings, effects, amp what gives geddy his sound?

probably EQ and a lot of bridge pickup from the little I've heard of him. Not that amazing.

Listen to the albums with the Wal or the Stienburger. The tone is, IMO, totally different.

I think his sound differs greatly between instruments he uses. The only time I had trouble identifying which bass he was using was on Moving Pictures, but he was using a good bit of overdrive on that one.

He uses the Steinberger on Grace Under Pressure.

Also when he was playing the Wal's he played a lot by the bridge pickup, as with the the Fenders and Ric's he'd be up near the neck pickup.
