How does one get into the repair business?

I'm finishing up my business degree next year, and plan to open a small music store, doing buy/sell/trade for guitars, school band stuff, sheet music, and such. I'd also like to have a setup/repair section in the back. My question is, how does one get into the business of repair? Is there a tech school? is it just about working in the biz until you know what you're doing? Are there apprenticeships?

there are schools but they almost always involve relocation since there aren't many. most people i know who do it apprenticed through their local shops. however, if you're expecting to be good at major repair work within a year, don't count on it. and if you're not good at it, don't try to do it, otherwise you'll mess up some folks' instruments really good.
