How Does UPS Ground Work?

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I have a bass on the way via UPS Ground.
I haven't *watched* a Ground package in a long time, so I don't know how this works.
I'm watching because I need the box from this bass to ship another bass to someone else, and I don't want to leave the person hanging.

I haven't seen the UPS Tracking update in 3 days. Is this normal since it's travelling Ground and maybe not passing through any gates?

The next 'gate' it will hit is when it comes to the distribution
center in your region. It will then go to you local center for
delivery.

I bought something from a guy in California, it went from
UPS store where the original bill of lading was cut. It then
was scanned at the regional center, Enceritas CA.

It was then scanned at the regional center in Warren RI.
It subsequently went to the local center in Warwick RI
for local truck delivery.

There was no scan between Cal and RI, no one stopped the
trailer to scan anything. Nor should they, that would just
delay the truck.

It had a expected delivery date, that was right on.
You can tell your client that date, getting boxes can always
be a hassle.

Where did you get your package shipped from?
Depending on the location, ground takes up to five days.
Thed company I work for uses it as their main shipper and it has always been reliable.
I think it get's checked at the hub and then when being loaded. After that, it gets checked at the destination hub and then again on when being loaded onto the truck that delivers it to your door.
If it's been more than five days, call.

When you go the UPS online tracking you'll have an expected delivery date. Those are pretty accurate assuming there are no unexpected delays. Just be sure you or someone is around to sign for it, otherwise it'll be an extra day.

Actually, my tracking record online does not show an expected delivery date.

It actually doesn't have any link to click for more details.

It has now passed through a *gate* in New Jersey, but there's still no estimated delivery date anywhere.
