How to get this tone

This is the first tie I've heard a tone and had absolutely no idea how to imitate it. What do you think will help emulate the sound of the bass on id engager by Of Montreal.

As heard around 48 seconds.

After hearing them live, I got obsessed with this tone, any suggestions would be great.

Sounds like either he's playing chords, or that there are two bass lines playing at the same time. Doesn't sound hard to do with flatwound strings...

Of Montreal has two bassists, and they both play Rickenbacker basses. Double cool.
