| | | | I've been playing about three years and I still only have a couple of songs I'm confident enough to sing while playing. |

I finally got tired of singing to focus on more elaborate basslines and ending up singing on the album anyway and we just had a "live" singer.
Pretty funny. |

FWIW, I can play guitar and sing lead or backup without even thinking about it...

But I've always sung harmonies and back-up while playing. My hesitancy to sing lead vocals was more about the confidence than anything else.
Now that I'm regularly singing lead vocals, I find it to be very comfortable ..... |

I can even do tenor while I play bass if I REALLY REALLY know it... some songs I can sing if they have simple bass lines, like lotsa repeated eighths, etc... Could not get the Sha La Las on Brown eyed girl whilst playing that bassline though... I can do Walking on the Moon, the Apologetix parody of 1985, and a couple praise songs like It Is You and Holy is the Lord...

But that's about it :/ |

| | Working on successful. Got the first syllable... | | Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Huddinge, Sweden | | | I had been singing for 20 years when I picked up bass. Bass player didn't show, so I figured I could do the odd root. I was VERY surprised to find myself quite at ease, so the bass stays on. I suppose answer to OP must be about 20 minutes...
A year and a half later, and I'm seriously considering cutting back lead vocals to be able to enjoy bass playing better.
