How long were you playing before you felt comfortable headbanging live ? It actualy took me a good number of years to be able to bang and play well at the same time.

I've actually lost the ability as I've aged. These days I get a headache, or feel like I'm going to pass out if I try to head bang. Maybe it was easier when I had long flowing locks?

Yeah headbanging always ended up with head throbbing for me.

I stuck to kicking stuff around and slamming my bass around.

No headbanging for me either. I'd very likely:

1. Get a head ache
2. Lose the rythm
3. Be unable to sing into the mic
4. Look like a moron.

I prefer to wobble about like Joe Cocker in slo-mo.

I get dizzy if I do it, so I try not to knock myself out when I play.

Still get into the music though, which is all that matters, even if I'm not being Flea circa 1989.

Headbanging does not require no hair my friend. I think when you dont think of it and you go with the feeling its easier to headbang and break stuff on stage while keeping the groove too. But with age you start loosing it at some point I guess. Still not old enough I guess hehe...

I was going to say that - so is the question : how long does it take to be so out of it that you dont care how stupid you look...?

"More drugs" is the answer then, I think!

I think it looks cool, and for me it just depends on the riff played at the moment...
