How long are your straps?

I like my bass to be slung pretty low, but not so low to makes myself look like a moron like Nirvana's bassist or Metallica's bassist. How long are your straps, and how low does your bass sit?

My straps can adjust pretty long, but I adjust their lengths so they fit me just right. That way my bass sits not too high & not too low. I end up with my plucking hand right about where my appendix is.

I installed casters on the bottom of my bass. My straps never go all the way to the ground like I like them, so I just roll my bass along the ground while I headbang.

Short- I use the "Short" Comfort Strapp because it's the only readily available padded strap that gets short enough for me. I don't even wear my basses that high.

My strap is at such a length so that my bass is in the same position when I am standing up, or sitting down with the bass resting on my right leg

Oh geez - you mean that all 10,000 people at that arena show thought I looked like a moron? How could I have been so blind...

Plectrum playing:

I find that your picking hand is at a much more natural angle when your bass is slung lower like that. They don't just do it to look cool. My Stingray, which is the bass I play exclusively with a pick and steel strings hangs much lower than I would ever normally consider wearing a bass.

I have my bass low, but not so low that it is in the middle of my thigh. I keep mine about junk level.

Not low enough. I reckon I'll get myself a longer strap when I have about £20 to waste on a strip of pointless material =P

Novoselic did wear it pretty dang low, although it seemed to work for them

I would totally accidentally maim someone (quite possibly myself) if I wore stuff like the Behemoth guy... brave souls.

if your bass isn't low enough to make it look like a phallus between your legs then you need to get it lower... technique be damned!

No, really, all kidding aside, I always personally like my bass to be the same height standing up as sitting down because I find that particular position lends itself to both hands feeling pretty good.

But that's me... these opinion posts always get ugly so I'm just gonna give you my opinion and leave it there. Have a great debate. Maybe someone can throw in something about Pete Wentz, he hasn't been bashed in a thread for a couple of days.
