How many guitar soloes NEED a high E

Sign in to disble this ad
I've started doing guitar soloes on my bass, and I'm considering gettign a 5 stringer or a 6 stringer to hit those high notes. If I got a 5er itd be EADGC ,a 6er, EADGBE or EADGCF. I know the 6er will cost more, so If I dont need one I wont get one. So is that last high string neccesary for a lot of guitar soloes, or should I be ok with a 5 stringer?

If you want to play in the guitar's register('to hit those high notes')...why not buy a guitar?
DOH!

BTW, sax solos transfer pretty well over to the bass.
