How many people don't know what a bass clef is?

I'm really surprised on how many people DON'T know what a bass clef is. I don't know how many people i've encountered that don't have a clue what it is. Some people have even asked if its a different language!! Right now im wearing my extremely comfortable TB hoodie with a giant bass clef on it, and my singer goes,"dude, what is that on your hoodie?"

so my fellow TB'ers, i would like to know if how many of you had to explain to people what a bass clef is.

I've got a t-shirt with a bass clef on it. Every time I wear it I have to explain to someone what it is.

Get an "O" printed on the Back and tell those who don't know their Bass Clef from their elbow to read from Front to Back .....

For those among us who don't know their .... from their elbow, the Bass Clef indicates where the "F" is on the stave. ....

When more "musicians" are familiar with Wyclef than they are with a bass clef, we have a problem.

Hi.

Since the genre I'm on is mostly classic rock, and since I doubt that my band-mates (with one exeption ) use any notation at home and during these 5 or so years we've been together have never brought any to the rehearsals, it'll be safe to say they wouldn't know.

Treble clef (G-clef), the same deal, most probably no idea.

Drummer probably knows the "neutral clef" though, since he's taking lessons and can read some percussion notation.

And why should they? They'd have no idea what the dots with lines mean anyway, let alone figure out how to play them.

That doesn't make them any less talented or enthusiastic, but obviously can be a bit annoying at times.
Music, any music, has the written language as well after all, and communication without it can get way difficult at times .

Regards
Sam

Well I went out to the garage and looked in my tackle box.....no bass clef.
I called Bass Pro Shops to try and order one but they didn't have any....what gives?

Yep, have to explain what the bass clefs on several of my jackets and baseball caps and the pullover hat all the time. Weirdest one was the guy who thought it might be a representation of the human sperm and two ovaries... LOL

If you have one tattooed on the roof of your mouth, you would have a bass clef palate.
