How many songs minimum for an EP?

It depends on the length of the song. If we're talking like two 4 minute long songs and one 8 minutes, then I'd count those three tracks as an EP. I think then 4 songs and up is an EP, although there are a lot of gray areas (I can name 5 smashing pumpkins singles that have 5 or 6 tracks on them, but they're not labeled as EPs).

I'll say 3 tracks count, just as long as their isn't any overlap (i.e. 2 of the 3 songs are the same, one of them being live or a remix).

To further FF's point: Sleep's "Dopesmoker" is one 60+ minute track... well with a bonus track, pushing it to about a 70 minute album.... but also their are some short LPs that I've felt ripped off by, can't think of any off hand, but there are some that just barely make the cut. Kind of a derailment since this is about EPs.
