My band sorta dropped the ball on this one, we didn't even try to get on a show! Hell, the entire DIY scene in my town is dead tonight. It's kinda weird.

I wanted the night off. My last 2 New Years spent with my ex wife sucked. This time I plan on waking up in her friends bed.

I played a freebie/favor show. It was a lot of fun. We played in a restaurant with people half listening at best.

I think i was the most relaxed out of everyone. We had 2 guest vocalists, the pianist who sings, and me. The vocalists were concerned about performing and getting stuff to sound just right...I thought-this is a just for fun gig. I could play tritones the entire time and maybe 6 people would notice. So-I had a lot of fun, I experimented with some comping. A few times-it turned out really well....and a few times-well, at least it wasn't at a big deal gig.

all the best.

I"ve played every NYE since 1972. Playing on NYE is part of being a musician for me. Almost always a good time and extra money. In the 'salad years' it was Union dues and a new set of strings. We played at the bar where we are the house band. Good crowd, great time, and another year starts.

We played. I'd rather have been celebrating at home with friends, but we had a good time I guess.

Crowd was wierd. Hard chargers until midnight but it cleared out pretty fast after that.

What we thought was going to be a boring gig turned out to be one of the best NYE gigs in years. We didn't play one song where there wasn't people dancing. We did 3 encores and they still wanted to rock.
