How many of you have deep voices?

I played guitar for five years before adapting to bass, and it seems I had a much harder time figuring things out by ear on guitar than I do now with my bass. My theory is that all but the lowest pitches on guitar are unfamiliar to me in a way, since I have a very deep voice. I'm not used to making them myself vocally. Bass seems more natural. If I'm scat singing an instrumental part, the bass' range suits me more, which I think translates into an ability to improvise on bass more accurately with what I want to hear myself play.

I'm curious if many of you feel like the bass is your "voice" out of all the instruments you could have chosen because it resembles your actual voice, or if having a deep voice makes you feel more in tune with what you're playing. It's a kind of strange idea, but I think there's some sense to it.

I've got a deep bass voice. A bassist buddy of mine also has a deep voice. Coincidence, or are we made to play bass? Bassists do it deeper.

My voice don't have a have a very deep timbre, but not very high either. Consequently my range don't reach very low either. My range is about the same of a 22 fret guitar in standard tuning, although I can reach down to C/C# in the mornings sometimes. I don't think my vocal range has much to do with my choice of instrument, but it's an interesting theory. I did start on guitar, not bass... By the way, people with deep voices often reach pretty high also. Listen to Barry White for instance...

I have quite a deep voice. Deep enough that it would be inaccurate to describe it as "baritone," as baritone parts in choral music are too high for me to sing comfortably.

I can usually whistle just about any tune, and my pitch is quite good. I don't usually have much trouble transposing that down an octave or two for bass.

Voice-wise, I switch between tenor and baritone depending on the key. Drives my family crazy in church.

I'm definitely a very low bass. I hit a C below bass clef, non-vocal fry and with a bit of volume, but I also hit an F above bass clef full voice. I've been classically singing for a few years, and my voice has also grown to have a nice dark timbre to it. The lowness definitely comes from my dad's side of the family. Gotta' love it.

Same, all the men in my family are either baritones or basses. We have no tenors except for those who married into the family.

I can hit the B below the bass clef on a good day, but not with a lot of power. F above the bass clef is about as high as I want to go without falsetto, I sing either baritone or bass, with some baritone parts too high, and some bass parts too consistently low (I have only very rarely seen a piece with lower than the B below the bass clef written for bass voice).

Low E is just about the lowest note I can hit. When I sing harmonies, I usually get stuck with the high ones though.

Yeah, what's up with that? I have the deepest voice in the band and yet I hit more falsettos than even our female vocalist...

Rich baritone checking in. I have no 'real' voice training, but I'm told my natural voice fits into the baritone range. I also can't seem to stop myself from singing with an absurd amount of vibrato. Hence, I sing all sorts of Danzig songs when I do covers.

I can do a fair imitation of most other male voices I hear (even a passable Robert Plant; Jack Johnson is a notable exception). I can comfortably get about as high as this song, which I have done at a gig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnbLXAfrPvY

This, however, is my very favorite song, and thusly my favorite to sing live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd8C6U2pfsY (I think the bass tone is killer too)

The deeper your voice the better you can produce falsettos.
No seriously, you can.
