So my momma purchased a new bass last month for me as a christmas present. I dont get it till christmas. So while I was there I asked them to replace the black pickguard with a tortishell one. Today my mom calls them up, and , whada know, they forgot to even buy the pickguard. My mom was pissed, but they offerd to do the labor for free after christmas. Little bit pissed right now. If anyone else has any stories, tell them. Still mad

I wouldn't really rate that as a "bad repairman".
I'd chalk it up to a very busy time of year and a store that is trying to make it right (by giving the free labor...all 5 minutes it takes to change a pickguard , but hey, at least they are trying....)

A BAD repair man would be the one who put on the new pickguard, even though he ordered the wrong one, and the new one is smaller, so you can see the screw holes and paint marks for the old one...

These guys just screwed up... Happens to everyone. Judge a place not by its mistakes (they're unavoidable), but what they do to put them right.

Order the pickguard yourself, put it on yourself. Even if your an unexperienced bassist, im not sure you are or not, its super easy. Its just unscrewing and rescrewing a few things. A store will take forever to get that pickguard in then even longer around the holidays to put it on. Just do it yourself.
