How many of you use amp stands ?

I recently started using an amp stand at gigs on the advice of a friend and was pleasently surprised at both how well I could hear myself and also at how well the sound was projected in general. I was wondering do many of you use them ?

I bought one on the strength of things read around here - didn't hear much improvement and decided it was one more bulky thing, too many, to carry to gigs and never used it again - in the bin!!

+1, and with the small cabs that I tried this with, the change in tone was to the negative to me... where did all the low end go? Large cabs like a 410 are usually high enough to be heard easily on stage. Small cabs seem to benefit from 'floor coupling' and I find a simple tilt back handle screwed to the bottom of the cab works just as well as a bulky stand for on stage monitoring is difficult situations (i.e., where you are standing right on top of the amp.

There are stands in the place where I rehearse with my band. I love when the speaker is at my ear level There's no point in a stand for large cabs, but for smaller combos (we have a Fender Rumble 100 there) it's a big plus.

Yeah, I suppose it's a case of deciding if the bulk and weight is worth the results acheived. Mine is not too bad as it folds neatly and weighs only 3 kg.

Thumbs up

Hi.

I use one in the practice space, Millenium IIRC.

With my SWR WM10 it made a significant improvement to both the tone and projection, at least to me. Being deaf in the right ear and all the amps always to my right to hear my vocals, I'd say that the stand was worth every penny (it was cheap ).

For my guitar combos, yes

For bass, my 1x15 cab is also my amp stand for my 2x10 cab and head!
