| | | | How much weight I can put above a Musicman hardcase??

Hi, I am travelling with my band for 5 hours. In the van the only way I can place my rig is: The musicman in the hardcase, and above the hardcase, my 2 hartke cabs (I was thinking to put the cabs at the sides of the harcase). This would be ok????
I can damage the musicman??????? |

Instrument hardcases go on top of everything. Unless they're "indestructible" ATA-flightcases.
Something that's been my guideline for a few decades:
Bulky/heavy/square stuff front&bottom.
Small/light/fragile stuff back&top.
Regards

I have been doing it this way for years, as a matter of fact, I normally load my basses in gig bags in first than throw not only my bass cabs but my PA 18 space rack with amps on top of them...never been a problem.

I would never do that because not only do you have two heavy cabs on top of your bass but whenever the van hits a bump it puts more stress on the case/bass, just asking for trouble. There is always more options but the instruments should almost always be up top.

Just avoid the possibility and put it somewhere else.

I can damage the musicman??????? | Why on earth would you do this? There must be a better way. Try strapping the guitar player to the roof -- that should free up enough space for your bass.

the drummer has a musicman also putted the bass at the back of his car and above a cab as heavy as my hartke, and nothing happened. We are carrying to many things and perhaps I have to put the things this way in my car (its the only way the hardcase fits in the backseat of my car)....as many said I wouldn t do it if there where probabilities of damaging the bass.

Another thing we used to do is bungee them to the roof of our van. Even with rain, most gig bags work out. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
