Our teacher was announcing open instrument positions and she said "any takers?" for the electric bass, which was answered with silence because nobody else wanted it and I was too timid to volunteer. My girlfriend back then, who was sitting several rows behind me, cleared her throat extremely loud to nudge me into it, so I raised my hand. That was nearly 15 years ago.
She probably doesn't even remember doing that, but I'll always love her for it. She's a lesbian now.
