How Should I Sell My Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm considering selling one of my basses. Where do I sell it? Should I go to a big-name place like Guitar Center and let them screw me with a low price? Should I attempt to sell it privately online (craigslist/ebay, something like that)? Should I go to the local pawn shop?
I'm confused and fairly desperate for money, so any advice is welcome.

Selling it outright will give you the most money. Ebay you have to pay fees. Craigslist you have to deal with people coming into your home. You may want to look at a local store and see if they would try and sell it for you on consignment. Not sure what the fees are....Maybe %10? I have no clue.

Best of luck on what you choose to do. I know times are tough. I'm still on reduced hours at work. Its been over a year now for me at 32 to 36 hours.

When you need it, any money is better than no money. That's what I say.

I wouldn't go to GC. But you could try going to a smaller guitar shop who tend to cut guys deals because they feel your pain a little bit more.

Best bet is probably Craigslist, or finding a friend who would want to buy it? You never know who is looking and who may be willing to pay more than you think!
