Anyone else here a fan of Humble Pie? Probably one of the most overlooked and underappreciated rock bands ever, I just wanted to know who else is a fan.
If you've never heard of them, do yourself a favor and get some of their stuff ASAP.

Eddie Kramer did "Rockin' The Fillmore"...

I love that band. Frampton is such a melodic guitar player. Steve Marriott is another in your face guitarist. I've been listening to Rockin the Filmore since the 70's.

What is it about 30 Days in the Hole? Every time I listen to it, it gets stuck in my head all day. Just a great song.
And Black Coffee.
I love how they incorporate elements of soul and blues into the music without takin away from their rocking-ness. Great band.

When I started playing I was listening to the 'Rock On' album a lot. I wore out 'Stone Cold Fever' on that LP. Great riff for a beginner to sink his (her) teeth into. |

It was just him on a Strat, and another guy on a Strat. No other band. I'd never heard of Korner, and I thought it was gonna suck, but I was wrong, they were great!
King Crimson came on. Fripp was looking like Noel Redding. I remember they were good, and Fripp kept putting baby powder on his fretting hand. I guess he was hot with that hair, velvet jacket, scarf and boots, what with the stage lights and all! I still use that trick on the sweatier gigs.
Then Humble Pie came on. Wow, they blew the roof off the place! Talk about bare-knuckle, in yer face guitar rock'n'roll! Les Pauls and Marshall stacks a-blazin'! Actually, with Marriott's way of singing his comments to the crowd between songs, rock'n'soul is a better way to describe it! They were awesome.

The A&M Classics collection is a nice little compilation.

Only 1 of my friends knows who they are, everyone else my age listens to Zeppelin, Hendrix, and more recognised stuff like that.

| | | | Humble Pie and The Lost Art of Jammin' Hunble Pie was a great live band- they left everything on stage- but like Little feat and Peter Frampton the magic mysteriously disppeared in the studio. I have suspected it is due to their intense improvising on stage created an energy standard studio protocal stiffled. Speaking of Jammin' I miss the days of musicians gettin' toghether and just improvising for hours! Nothing better for developing chops, implementing new stuff, learning from other musicans, and having a blast!

Blueswolf | Amen to that. There's nothing like one of the band members playing a riff and everyone just joining in without saying a word. The looks as a result of all that noise says it all! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
