Sign in to disble this ad
I want to buy some headphones and i am willing to spend about 125.00.

I will be using them for live sound and for when i practice by myself at home through the laptop, with pro tools or amplitube.

I want a real bass crisp sound!

I was looking into these:
Sennheiser HD 380 Pro
Sennheiser HD 380 Pro | Sweetwater.com

They also sell for 80 bucks in amazon!
Great reviews.

If you have a recommendation please let me know.

You can't go wrong with Sennheiser. I have a set of Vic Firth sound-isolating headphones and love them! In case you want another option check these out.

Vic Firth S1H1's are great. I used them with my tascam bass trainer in Iraq and all I hears was bass, no effing blackhawks or chinooks flying low!

However, if you really want to treat yourself to a pro quality set of ears, Grado Prestige SR SR225i are the way to go.

I just got a set of 380's a couple weeks ago and love them, much more low end than 280's.
I'm not sure how you are planning on getting them for $125 though. For $80 they would have to be used, they sell most places for $199, I think you might be thinking the 280's which are nice but lack the real lows the 380's have. Those normally go for around $100.

I got my 380's on Ebay for $151 + $8 shipping brand new.

I went to Wal-Mart and got a set of Sony MDR-ZX100's.
$20.00 bucks and they work just fine.
Buy them, if you do not like them then return them and get one of them fancy expensive sets.

i have the super cheap 29 dollar sennhaisers and they are really nice

i have also heard that the audio technica precision headphones for 60 dollars are great

the last time i got super expensive sony's one of my students stole them, so i tend to not buy stuff that's real expensive now if i need to use it sometimes at the school for mixing sound on videos

Subjective Reality ?

To be honest, you should think about Behringer HPM1000 cans.Excellent sound quality and very light and they still might be under $30.00. Used them on a session awhile back and the engineer was floored how good they sounded vs his mega priced cans .

Sony MDR-7506 are great. $99 at MF, but you can probably find them cheaper. Great for monitoring recording as well.

I actually happen to have a pair of HD 380 pro myself, and they sound really great.
But no matter how great headphones you got, your bass is gonna sound like crap going through them.

The Sennheisse HD380 pros are very nice and excellent choice. I use them and a pair of Beyer Dynamic DT770 pro headphones.

Ditto, except mine are MDR-V150s. You don't need studio-quality headphones unless you're doing studio recording, IMO. I can hear myself fine on the cheap ones.

For decades, I have used Sony MDR-7506, MDR-V600 and MDR-V6 headphones. I find them to be the most comfortable headphones I've worn; they have slight bass emphasis, and I find the sound extremely pleasant.

I use them in professional video and audio production - any of the three are available via Amazon. You can check specs and they're all very similar - the V600 set is more of a home set with slightly larger (edit) ear cups and cross-head band.

I have a pair of the V600s too, and I think they have more bass response and are not as flat as the 7506s. Some may like those better.

You can always buy my AKG K701 in classifieds..

They need to be pushed to bring out the beauty of these headphones but IMO they are one of the best!

Sony MDR-XD200..meh

I got a pair just yesterday for $70 AUD. Great sound, but the design allows ambient external noise to become amplified and canned somehow. Kinda like the seashell held to the ear you hear the ocean effect, really annoying. Get some full sized enclosed cans with good noise cancelling or bloc-kout quality...try try try...and try with a bit of background noise, like a music or electronic store with lots of customers around.
