On a pickguard? An old, beaten-up one with a piece broken off and glued on? Just because it MIGHT have been on an old P-Bass? I don't care if Jesus Christ himself played it, there's no way I'd pay that kind of dinero for a pickguard! 1961-64 VINTAGE FENDER PRECISION BASS PICKGUARD USA | eBay

People will do all kinds of crazy things for the stuff Jesus used...you know how much you could get for the Shroud Of Turin? Now imagine what you could charge if you had the matching pump and handbag that went with it. |

I don't think that $1K is too much to ask, just too much to pay. |

Y'all need to watch Pawn Stars or American Pickers more often, LOL ...
Seriously though, there are "experts" that can tell a 1962 Fender pick guard from a 1992 Fender pick guard.
If paying a grand for a pick guard that is the right vintage will boost the value of my 62 Fender another 2500.00. Yeah, I'll pay that and more than double my return.
But it all boils down to "what the Market will bear" if someone is willing to pay X amount for something then the others will/might sell for around the same. That's how a market value is arrived at on older discontinued models like a Spector NS-2A or an Ibanez SR1200 - both are discontinued models and both currently sell for between 350 - 650 (not so often at 650).
Sometimes better deals can be had on them. I paid 275 for my NS-2A...

Best metal bass? Buy a vintage pickguard. |
