The GK will go a lot farther in getting you another tone. |

Oh, and you didn't mention whether you were keeping the bass you/amp you already have.
If you're not keeping them, then I'd say get the amp and keep the bass you like.
If you are keeping them, get the bass. A backup bass is handy to have and IMO extends your tone/tuning options a little more than a replacement head often does. My opinion only of course.

| | On the TB leaderboard for low talent/gear ratios! | | Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: NJ | | | I took a look at your profile, and it says you have a Precision in addition to your Marcus Miller. With the two of them you cover a lot of tonal variety. Your amp is also a good choice for an inexpensive head. In short it looks liek you have a decent set of equipment oo I think you have a decent set of equipment to work with.
So...... what do you need more or what would give you more bang for the buck for your situaiton? If you could get more out of other tonal choices or are looking for a different feel or playability then the 44-01 is a great choice. I"m jsut not sure if that's a good price or not. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing one for that price on Bass Central's website recently so if it's a private sale it might be a little high.
If you need more power and/or the additional features of the 1001RB then I'd consider that (is it the older RB or the current RB II model)? Keep in mind that you can get a new one from RMC Audio for $600.
Anyway, that's a great problem to have to make. If you have no real needs driving your decision then you can at least satisfy yourself that you can't go wrong with either decision. I have a 55-02 and can vouch for just how amazing the Skyline series basses can be. I also have a 1001 RBII head and I love it.

Otherwise, get the bass, Laklands rule.
Glad I could help.
