that I've tried to do a solo acoustic act:
www.myspace.com/brianheim
which I'm brand new at and all. I know I'm not much of a guitarist, but my bass roots feel neglected. I do, however, love solo acoustic acts. The purity of a songwriter going up there with just his experiences and a guitar, no plug ins or anything, really blows me away. I saw Paul Baribeau do that and was inspired, so I wrote one song (What if) like 4 months ago and I still don't love it that much, but a few people I know kept demanding it to be put up.
Then I wrote The Deception Known as Youth after my best friend comitted suicide. and When I Grow Up a few days afterwards.
I am guessing none of you guys will probably like this on the basis that:
A. There's no bass (well I know some of you don't care but still)
B. It's uhh...solo acoustic stuff from a 16 year old guy who's not too good at guitar or singing. who just hopes to be an ok songwriter haha.
anyway, anyone ever try to do something like this? and feel weird about it?
it's sooo easy to play a gig on bass in front of a bunch of people if your'e with a band. I just fall in the pocket and am comfy. I should be playing at starbucks and am planning on playing Peace Train (Cat Stevens), The Futile (Say Anything), and some Paul Baribeau along with originals. I'm scared to death! is bass treason a good enough reason to put me to it?
