I figured out how to use Guitar Hero 2 for practice

Just go to the practice mode, find a song that you know how to play on the bass, then choose to practice the song on the bass, but pick up your real bass instead. The bass track on the song won't play, so all you'll hear is the guitar(s), vocals, and drums. It's actually more difficult without the bass being played along with the track, and it makes you feel like you're actually a part of the song. Of course, this also means that you only have about 70 songs to choose from, and most of them have an easy bassline, but there's YYZ on there! Imagine keeping up without geddy playing along! Of course, a real band is always more fun, but this is as close as you can get alone at home.

Thats a pretty neat idea. Too bad the cover versions can be a bit weak at times.

True, but honestly I think that the only thing wrong with the covers were the voices. Everything else seemed extremely spot on. But I HATE who they got to do Killing in the Name. For one he was white. Not that I'm a racist but if you don't recognize that blacks and whites have different dialects then you have some learning to do. And Zach de la Rocha, although mexican, resembles a black guy's voice more that a white guy.

Sounds a whole lot like the Music Minus One albums that I have for jazz bass. Really cool playing along with a whole band and the bass part is all "me". The MMO albums come with the chart, which is nice, but for ear-training, I used to play with albums all the time when I was younger. I learned a LOT of stuff doing that. Enjoy!!!

Since it's in practice mode, I guess it doesn't cut off halfway because you're not playing the tune like it would in regular mode? This is a really neat idea, actually. I wish I had the game even more now .

Thanks for the heads up on that. I have the game. The thing that I don't like is you can only play the Bass parts when someone is playing with you or maybe I missed something.

When you got to practice mode, you get to choose either the lead, rhythm, or bass part.
