I finally started a 'play what i wanna play' band!

Sign in to disble this ad
After too many years doing other stuff my guitarist and drummer mates decided to just do a band playing what we want to, just for us, just for the hell of it, so back in February we did!

We started a sorta funky pop band and just wrote a bunch of songs that had the sorta groove we like to do, then eventually added a singer and went for a girl just to be different from all the 'proper bands' we'd been in prior. So we trawl from Cheltenham and Kent to the studio in Melton every three or four weeks just to hang out and jam

And six months later we finally have some recordings up, so feel free to check em out and BUT!! im a delicate flower and im NOT asking for a huge critique'ing as its purely for our own benefit and im a sensitive soul so pleeeease NO slaggings!! if you cant say anything nice, then DON'T SAY ANYTHING! cause i will get paranoid, and upset and sulk.

The songs are all originals and are just a live recording, all done in one morning with the solo's and FX changes etc all left in, its just us mic'ed up and recorded on a digital desk thingy, with the vocals dropped over the top. The songs are all one take jobs and the vocalist has'nt sung in a proper band before (shes a bass player!) although she has done home recordings.

So please feel free to check em out and enjoy spotting my missed notes and fluff ups of which there are many!

They are here,

I'd definitely check you out on a gig if I had the opportunity. I dig it. Cool songs and interesting arrangements. The vocals aren't bad, but not the greatest either. They seemed to lack some attitude, is doesn't really sound like she means what the sings. It wouldn't hurt with a slightly more bitchy approach. I think she will get better with more experience though, and maybe she even sounds completely different live?

Anyway, I think you have some potential to get far with this band if you play your cards right. Good luck!

Whew, I thought you were from the local band around here who plays Green Day Covers. They had just got a female singer and had started writing all originals. Lucky you were not them.

Pretty killer man. People play their best when they play what the want to play. Its the process of extending whats in your heart and mind to other people, uninhibited.

This would sound totally bitchin' with some horns thrown in. Digging the groove and for a myspace recording, the sound quality ain't half bad. May I suggest bringing you more upfront in the mix ? Funk needs punchy bass lines

You might also want to include a picture of the singer that isn't in the form of a "Myspace pic" (I'm holding the camera with both hands taking a picture of myself).

Thanks

Thanks guys, glad you like it. We are still new and have only existed since Feb, and due to the distances involved means we have only rehearsed a handul of times (twice with the singer) so more practice, new pics and even a new mix are on the way, with the bass brought out more (yay!)

Its early days, but im loving it.

There is loads of my old stuff from like the last 15 years on my own page.
