I hear baslines

Yep, I hear bass lines in my head. I could wake up with them in my head or they may come to me as I go about my day. They usually stick in my head until I play them out, record them. (I just use a basic taperecorder i do not want to invest in fancy recording gear) or until I write it out in tab.

This never happened to before and when I played guitar I do not recall having this happen to me. Does it mean I have evolved as a bass player or does it mean I am a better bass player than a guitar player? What could it mean for my playing? Have I gone up another level with my playing?

Does this happen to anyone else?

Oh and the funny thing is I do not even belong to a band so its not like I am writing songs for a band.

I do the same thing with lyrics, I think its something that just comes naturally to people.
I wish I could write a decent line tho....

i hear lines whenever i listen to music, but i can never play them out, which is super frustrating

haha once in a blue moon Ill have a dream where i'm playing an awsome bassline in a band and Ill wake up the next morning and try to remember it

I have heard/composed basslines in my head for years (particularly while running); even in the years before I ever picked up a bass. I do tend to forget them quickly, however. I have in the past called my own answering machine/voice mail and hummed it so I had a record.
