| When Rondo was having their half-off sale a few months back, me and a guitarist buddy headed down there. I picked up an SX PJ and an Agile AL-2500 for $200. My friend got an AL-2500 and an AL-3100, and 2 stands to put them on, for $300.
The instruments are somewhat hit and miss. None of them are bad, actually, they're all quite good, but for instance, my friends AL-2500 plays and sounds better than his AL-3100, and looks cooler too.
My friend also has a Gibson Custom Shop 58 Les Paul, that cost $2400. He says that the Gibson is clearly better than the AL-2500, but not by that much. We've recorded with the AL-2500 and it sounds awesome, even with the stock pickups. But he does plan to swap out the pickups, to get an edgier tone. I love my Agile too, I just noodle around on it, but it's a lot better than some guitars that I've played.
Basically, the Agiles are great guitars. They wreck other budget brands, like Epiphone and Squier, and even the lower end Fenders and Gibsons, IMO.
Sidenote: While I like SX basses overall, and I liked the PJ that I got that day, I stopped by Guitar Center on the way back, and played a Squier Vintage Modified P Bass. I sold the SX the next day, and for the Squier for christmas.
