I love Bass

Ok, I've been coming here for years and I've participated in many different discussions.

What bass is best for metal? what's the difference between a P and J? Do Rick's rock or suck? Does wood affect the tone? etc etc etc.

But the thing I don't hear enough of, is what I wanted to write about.

I love bass. I love playing it. I love the feel of the strings. Playing with my fingers and not a pick. I love that when I turn it up I send vibrations through the entire hall. I love that I more or less define the groove of the song. I especially love that when I slam out a solo - the crowd goes far more wild than they did during the guitar solo because they've heard a zillion guitar solos - and not everyone hears a bass solo every night.

I love that the bass is bigger and heavier than a guitar. I love that I get called for gigs way more than my fellow band mates. I love that I can go to Victor Wooten camp and hang with him and 10 other world class bassists and they're all just regular joes.

What a great instrument. Bass just rocks.

WOW!!! Great thread brother! I don't think anyone
here could have said it better. I must say that I share
this passion for the bass. To be the groove-layer is
truly a great feeling. I think I can safely speak for everyone
here in saying that we are proud to be the holders
of the low end. Keep that passion
burning, bro!

Great thread! I couldn't agree more with you. The joy I get from playing the bass far exceeds everything else. I love that I can always find a band to play with. I love the fact that most people do not choose to play bass, but the people that do are usually the most awesome people. I also enjoy the fact that we can define the song and a lot of people in the audience rarely realize it.

+1.

I love the visceral feel of playing bass. Feeling the strings with my fingers and all the different ways you can get the string to sound with them.

I couldn't agree more. If it wasn't for the bass, I wouldn't be playing music today. Plain and simple.

I enjoy playing bass too! Even that 20-minute jam me and my dad had (even if it was to help me with my walking basslines!)

I had to stop reading this thread 15 minutes ago to grab my bass. Now I've just realized I was surfing the forums because it's way too early in the morning (8 AM) to play loud. Powerful thread.

Its time to buy a headphone amp.
You can play extremely loud at any time of the day.

Got it right man!

Once I thought I'd pursue a classical pianist career, now I still play the piano but bass is the one I love.
