I've seen a bass like that from time to time on eBay.

The solo did nothing for me.

It sure did something for the crowd. And that's pretty much what counts.

Yes it did. That shows what the general public thinks is good. Not to bash KISS - I listened to them at one point, too - but they are not great musicians. They put on a great show, but not much substance. And that's OK, too.

I am not a Kiss fan how ever I really like this solo for some reason. and I think its very cool, Maybe it has something to do with 12 bar blues and metal?

The solo sounds like the bassline from a Zepplin Tune...

moby dick then into a Billy Squire tune at the chords...

I think that is only slightly better than Michael Anthony's typical bass solo. I've seen MANY shows with WAY more entertaining bass solos than that (IMO).

I wouldn't call it a solo, but a decent groove with the drummer. If it were about 5 minutes longer with some direction, it would've been great! The tone on that axe bass wasn't too bad...needs flats, though.

That was not much of a bass-solo. Kiss has some good tunes, but they are not very good at their instruments IMO

Hate to break it to you Mr. Headbanger, but if you've seen Derek's posting history, you would see that he most assuredly, isn't joking.

No, that was a little known mode called the "Qiznaleinx" mode. It's a killer in scrabble.

I beg to differ. Sure, they might not be a wanktastic progressive band that does technically amazing stuff like a Dreamtheater.

But, if you put aside all the goofy costumes and stage stuff they actually wrote loads of very awesome tunes. They were never really one of my fav's, and never listented to them much. But, a friend of mine brought over some of their albums and I listented. I was won over.

I was suprised to find that they had loads of substance.

If you mean great musician = wanking all over the instrument, then no. To me great musician = good song writing and good playing. They have that.
