Man, I never knew there were this many bassist in the entire world, much less on one website. With all of the bands needing bassist out there, they should all come here! Screw Craigslist! We are all in one spot.
I think this is a wonderful place, and I learn a lot, but that being said, a post gets buried pretty easily on here. You can post something and within a few hours, it is on page 3 or 4, unless you get a quick response. This usually requires a bump, if an answer is needed ASAP.
Don't get me wrong, I love and use this site. And I believe we bassist are a rare breed, and we should be a clan. I have just never seen a forum with so many post per section per day. Lot's of great information for sure. |

There's a lot of good info here if you know how to find it, and many people will just tune you out if you don't want to be bothered to spend a few minutes to learn how to do that.

I, also love this site. I'd like to think we ARE a clan... Really, overall, everyone on TB is VERY nice, polite, respectful, helpful, patient to our fellow bass players.
I have been on other sites for other topics...FLAME CITY.
In response to posts getting burried.....no wonder....141,992 members(and counting)....I'm very impressed by the membership count. THANK YOU TALKBASS!

Prior to coming to TB I use to go to some guitar forums. (I don't anymore). While there are some nice folks on some of those forums it seemed like the overall thrend was getting more and more hostile. Sign of the times?
Really, can't believe how many great folks are here who are very willing to share info and to help others. |

Wasn't the OLD Ampeg forum shut down coz a cuppla people actually were threatening each other with DEATH with firearms etc???? I could be wrong- I usually am
But IIRC It was as I describe - at least in some way.
Sad- coz IT was an OK forum & helpful to us Ampeg owners of the time.. This must've been back in about '04 or 05 or there abouts!

talkbass gets something on the order of 10,000 new posts a day, every day. over 1000 threads started or participated in.
on a lark i did a little comparison :
talkbass is currently ranked 178th in the world as far as discussion forums of any kind go, in size. http://www.big-boards.com/highlight/213/
we'd actually be higher up if our total post count was included but i think paul has removed a lot of old posts from the system, moved them into the archive, knocking about 1/10th of our post total out.
the hamb is currently ranked 357th http://www.big-boards.com/highlight/1232/ - not too shabby, but a ways to go before they're as big as we are .

| A big thank you to Paul, the mods and admins for taking care of TB business so that TB remains a polite, respectful and helpful online destination for all musicians. |

| | | I would like to thank the Talkbass administrators and moderators as well for a top quality site. I am on Talkbass every time I log in just to see what is going on as well as post replies and create threads. Other music sites are filled with profanity, flaming, name calling, poilitics, and other things that have no business in the threads. You guys maintain a fantastic site! |

Next day I log in and see my thread (with a dozen replies) was already on page 6.
That's just too busy of a site, and I waste enough time on several different forums each day. I don't have time to run through multiple pages of new threads and still keep up with recent ones, too.
