I Love How Anyone Can Now Have a Slap Bass Instructional Video

I get these myspace friend requests from all different kinds of people. But lately I get a lot of Bass Slap Instructional Video sites or people. I've never heard of any of them, checked them out on allmusic, or Google, and they have no history. One dude graduated with an undergrad degree in composition and had a video. I don't think the dude ever even played a gig before. This other cat looks maybe 18 at best and he's "been playing for 12 years". yeah, right. I see ads on music sites for these cats, I see their books on MF and the such. What's the deal? Who are they?

If I wanna learn slap bass I wanna learn it from someone I've actually heard of like Vic Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Louis Johnson, or Larry Graham.

Why does everyone and their brother have a slap bass instructional video?

There's money in it. There's probably quite a large market for people who don't know much about the instrument, but want to be all flashy to pick up girls or something, and be like Flea. Those people probably won't do much in the way of background checks on whoever they're buying their instructional books from, either.

Sure, there's stuff like this in all fields musical and non-musical. Naive people spend money too.
