Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I'm selling a bass through ebay but I don't know the where to get a box that fits it. It's being sold with a hardshell case and the dimensions are around 50x18x5. Any advice? Thanks.

Go to your nearest guitar shop and inquire about shipping boxes. They may have some ready for the dumpster that you can have for free, I've seen places charge up to $10.

+1. Ask for one of the boxes the hardshells ship in and you're good to go.

If you're polite you probably won't get charged.

Oh, and if you've never shipped a bass before: Bubble wrap = your friend. Bubble wrap the bass itself THEN put it in the box. Make it secure enough that you'd be comfortable shipping the bass WITHOUT the hardshell, then put it in.

I try to Double Box

If I am shipping in a hardshell case I do not usually double box. I may have for semi hollow or my favorite bass for 30 years.
If I didn't have a case, I would double box for sure. My local GC has been a great supporter of my box needs as well as the local appliance dealer.
place printed address labels with phone numbers inside the whole assembly and on the bass (do not attach to the bass with tape), place a couple inside the bubble wrap and tape a few to the outside of the inner box, inside the outside box and of course atleast three side of the outside box.

So where do you get these boxes if the music store doesn't have any? Also do UPS or other shipping company's have these boxes?

The UPS store packs them for you if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself. It costs around 25 bucks, but you get the supplies and don't have to pack it yourself. I've done this a couple times when I did not have any supplies on hand and was too lazy to buy some. You might want to consider this.
