Short and simple. I need a new home stereo. Looking for something for music only, just not into the whole surround sound thing no real need for it. Only need it to play music.

So i am thinking of a receiver and a set of speakers, with a budget of lets say around $500.00.

What are you using and do you have any sugestions if you were buying today. I like quality but i do have a budget.

I have been looking at a pair of polk audio bookshelf speakers with a sub, or floor speakers and a cheap receiver.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I bought this and ended up selling my home stereo system. It sounds amazing for the price, and can get pretty loud. It has great bass and is very clear sounding.

Logitech - Z506 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers (6-Piece) - Black - 980-000430

Of course, it is only for computers, but if you have a computer in the room this would be perfect.

This is what i have been doing for the last 10 years. Taking the 3.5 mm jack off the back and plugging it into the headphone jack of an iphone etc. Looking for something that fills the room better. Something a little better sounding. Although i must say those little computer speakers have suprised a lot of people.
