I need some insight

Just got off the phone with several music stores concerning Seymour Duncan SJ5s, the set. There's this one place I ordered from called Mike's and I put a deposit down and whatnot then the price comes out to be 270. That's pretty ridiculous seeing as how they're advertised as 125 on various websites. I call up Long & Mcquade (Up here in Canada, eh?) and they give me a rough estimate of 200. What the heck?

The Mike's owner said there's a 25% mark-up on the pickups. Is this all bull or is there a shred of truth to it?

Granted the customs and shipping mark it up a little bit but to my estimates, 200 tops. Is this Mike's guy just trying to make a quick buck?

To further get me angry, deposit is non-refundable. Meaning I'll have to save an extra ~$200 for these pups.

They're usually under $70 each.
Are they installing them also?
If so, that's an awfully hefty price for a simple soldering and 2 pickups...

How did they get you to put a deposit down on the pickups before they gave you the price?

Because I wasn't thinking apparently. They said they'd call me back that afternoon if not the next day, I waited a couple weeks and called them.

I'm probably just going to spend that 100 bucks on a pedal/strings/something. Just ridiculous.
