I nominate progressive metal as the worst genre in music..

Uncreative metalriffs including lots of unnecessary time signatures with lots of random scale-runs and a powermetal singer.
Technical music without a vision.

Who agrees?

I disagree, some progressive metal rules. Like, for example, the last four albums by Death, which were highly progressive.

But Dream Theater sucks. Bad.

I believe that all genres of music suck equally.

I also believe that all genres of music kick ass equally.

I think a lot of the old 70's progressive rock stuff is terrible. But there are a whole flood of bands coming out nowadays that could be classified as Progressive Metal (though, not in the Tool/Dream Theater sense). So, while I would normally not be one to defend Progressive-anything, I will this time.

I nominate, instead, Math Rock &/or Post-rock...which are the spiritual decendents to 70's Prog rock because both genre's take themselves way too seriously.

I nominate rap, although I still don't call it music as it is missing one of the elements of music - melody.

Closely followed by hip-hop, boy bands, slutty chicks and all that other crap.

because we all know it's easy to lump one form of art as inferior to another...

This has no hope of ending well.

FYI, I generally hate threads dedicated to tearing down any particular performer, writer, gear, genre, etc....Let's try to be positive, there's enough negativity in the world already.
