Well the other night I saw a blues band called The Tinsely Ellis band. It is a professional band that has made many albums, although many people have never heard of their band.
Well now on with the show.
The band constisted of a bassist, guitarist, drummer, and keyboard player.
-Tinsely Ellis (guitarist) was outstanding at guitar, in my opinion he is better than Clapton, Hendrix and Ray Vahne put together. He has amazing frasing on his solos, and is sober when he plays.
-Evil One (bassist) is an amazing rock and blues bassist. He knows the fretboard like that back of his hand. He was playing some hybrid bass that was sunburst p-bass body, with jp configuration in the pickups. He could be compared to Tommy Shannon of Stevie Ray Vahne and Double Trouble, and the one and only Jack Bruce.
I really enjoyed this band, they put on a great show.
Im really glad that my dad went to college with Tinsely Ellis, or I would have probably never gone to that show.
Just for the record how many of you TBers have heard of this band.

When I saw him the other day he came to the Variety Playhoue in Atlanta, Georgia.

It's nice to see he's still going at it after 20+ years.

he has been in a couple bands, or atleast enough for my dad to know about.

It was pretty cool - he's a fantastic musician. The bass player was good too. He didn't really look the part whatever that means. He was a real "biker" looking guy.

Actually I think he is quite underrated. The lyrics to his music are really quite interesting. I like the song where he has an unfortunate relationship with a woman that left him "Deaf, Dumb, Crippled and Blind." Very funny stuff.
He is the very definition of a blues man, touring constantly and recording frquently. It must be a tough life, especially playing in dank dives where many customers have little real appreciation for the blues.
When one thinks of an "A List" of blues masters, his name might not appear on it, but I really like the fact that he strives to keep blues alive in a world that may move on eventually just as they left rag time and other music forms behind in the past.
