I was an uneducated ignoramous.

I installed pickups in my bass about 7 years ago when I got it new. I build and fix computers for a living (now I am a Network Engineer) and score about a 140 on an average IQ test. I am saying because I am supposed to know these things.

I thought I followed the instructions on installing the Basslines hot and vintage to the letter and have been loving my bass for the last 7 years.

I bought an Audere and installed it and due to money issues and other various things (see How Not to Pack an amp thread). I sold the Audere and just got back around to re soldering the pickups to the pots and leads.

Well, I decided to download the instructions again just to make sure I didn't miss anything the first time.........

I DIDN'T ground the volume pots (either of them) and have been loving this bass for 7 years.

I just FIXED it and soldered it properly with a jumper ground pot to pot to pot to jack like it was SUPPOSED to be done and I have more output and punch. DUH!!!!! I only had the bridge ground going to the tone pot before and NOTHING going to the jack.......

Wow, well here's a pic of my NEW (well at least to me for a 7 year old ) bass I am growing to love again.

Really like the finish.

Sounds like a cool bass. (Though I personally can't stand the GHS Boomer strings, but that's just my personal opinion).

I am on the fence right now, pick attack is wonderful on these strings for the heavier music I play but for fingerstyle they seem a little lacking, haven't figured it out yet.
