Identifiying a U.S. Vintage P Bass (57 or 62?)

I have a bass that I bought back in 1997 that is supposed to be a U.S. Vintage P Bass. I am not sure how to tell if it is a 57' or a 62'. The serial number is V042418. The color is red (sunburst?). Can anyone help me identify it?
