The only basses that are in perfect condition are the ones that don't get played!
Consider 'em "character marks", and move on. You should see the bass over in my avatar close up, it looks like I dragged it behind a truck!!!
Quick story (to give you the mind frame of the builders):
I was talking with Keith Roscoe a while back, he related an experience to me. He'd built a bass for a local customer, about 4-5 years later, the customer brings the bass back for a checkup. Not a scratch on it, looked like the day it'd been finished.
Keith went over it for the guy, pronounced it "Healthy!", and sent him on his way.
Keith was furious.
Why???
Because he makes 'em to be PLAYED!!! It was obvious that it hadn't been used, there was NO play wear at all. He told me he'd rather see them beat to crap, because at least they getting played.
