I have some vintage gear (mostly drum gear) that has gotten me to ponder how mand hands have played these instruments.
Sometimes when I'm playing my 58 Radio King or my old Leedys or even a vintage cymbal I can't help wonder...
-How many people have owned it before me?
-How many gigs has it seen?
-How many miles has it traveled?
-Who bought it in the first place and where?
-Why did they pick this particular drum or cymbal and did they have to save a long time to get it?
-Was it appreciated by someone else as much as it is by me?
-What kind of great (or not so great) music has been played on it?
Now that I'm getting into bass gear, I'm thinking the same thing concerning it. Does anyone else have similar thoughts concerning their older gear?
