Yeah, I wrote about him in one of those innane pick vs fingers threads. He's a great player. Bill Clements.

Pick up his record "undergroundalienbass". If you can find it. Good stuff.

edit: get it here:

listen to the whole thing beforehand...pretty cool.

Wow!!

I couldn't do that with 3 hands, maybe 4.

Is he strung BEAD, cause it sounds like he gets pretty low?

Amazing....

Yup, he does. He was at Low Down Sound last month, got to talk to him. The lighter string tension helps with the one handed stuff, I think the attack works better, obviously less finger pressure needed too, which helps the speed.

That video actually made me really happy. I always said if I didn't have my hands, I'd commit suicide. If I can't have music, I can't have life. Turns out all I need is one!

And the dude is light years ahead of me. The drummer dropped the groove a couple times, but the bass was tight the whole time!

Good for him, seriously!

Indeed. I must say that it's pretty impressive when you only have one hand but your playing is more solid than your intact drummer's is.

That video made me smile. And practice.

At first he scared me in a Matrix/Terminator sort of way, but the more I watch, the more I want to check some of his recordings out, and hope for better sound quality. I'm digging the lined fretless graphite jazz.

Yes. Bill Clements. There's a post about this already in this forum...(something about throwing your bass in the river)

Good player. I linked to his record on CDBaby.

Pick it up.

Inspiring and depressing all-in-one.

It's inspiring in the fact that he lost his hand but found a way to overcome it and not only play well but to rock!

It's depressing because even with both hands and I can't even begin to approach his level of playing.

Hey, he's got it easy! He doesn't have to coordinate two hands.

It was very cool to see him play live at the Chicago get together. He seems very humble and is incredibly nice. A very talented musician!
