If you could time travel to any point in history solely to experience that periods music for the first time, or partake in it... To which point and place would you go? If you could travel to the future, how do you think music will sound? |

Boring for drummers, but disco bass lines were actully quite good!

| | | | I think I would like to go back to the times of Ancient Greece and learn to play the Lute. I'd live on the island of Delos and praise Apollo, in hopes he would bless me to be the best mortal musician of the time. I would then ask him to hook me up with an Amp and blow the world away and achieve more than human status. (I would need to ask for an extension cord that reached the summit of Mount Olympus tho..)
EDIT: Even better... Maybe Apollo can talk to Zeus and Zeus can blast the amp with some godly thunder that will forever retain an electric, self-perpetuating current!
Perhaps I would note that music of the time and save it in a special Earth proof box so that by 2011, we would have more then 45 fragments of music dating back to the times of Ancient Greece.
As for the future, as crappy as everything is, I think more people are fed up with the garbage out there, then there are those who love it. I see music taking on a very electric turn, and acoustic/transduced acoustic sounds taking a fall for the next generation of music.
I imagine a lot of beeps, boops, and bops with gray alien heads headbanging... There will be a "new" or a discovery of a "new" sound frequency that the brain responds to differently then all other "sounds" previously experienced. This sound will not be able to be faked like the pop stars of todays world fake it. So sorry Ms. Simpson, there is no place for you in the future. |
